About Moissanite
What is moissanite?
Moissanite is a naturally occurring gemstone first discovered in a meteorite crater by scientist Henri Moissan in 1893. Today, moissanite is lab-created, making it an ethical and sustainable alternative to mined diamonds. It is one of the hardest gemstones on earth (9.25 on the Mohs scale) and is known for its exceptional brilliance and fire.
How does moissanite compare to diamond?
Moissanite actually outshines diamond in several ways. It has a higher refractive index (2.65 vs 2.42), meaning it reflects more light and sparkles more brilliantly. Its fire — the dispersion of light into color — is 2.4x greater than diamond. In terms of hardness, moissanite scores 9.25 compared to diamond’s 10, making it extremely durable for everyday wear.
Is moissanite real?
Yes. Moissanite is a genuine gemstone with its own unique chemical and physical properties. It is not a diamond simulant or fake — it is a distinct stone in its own right, simply lab-created rather than mined.
Will moissanite lose its sparkle over time?
No. Moissanite is a permanent gemstone. It will not cloud, fade, or lose its brilliance over time. With basic care, your ilussa piece will look as stunning decades from now as it does today.
What metal is used in ilussa jewelry?
Our pieces are crafted in 925 sterling silver, rhodium-plated silver, and platinum-plated silver depending on the style. Full metal details are listed on each individual product page.
Does ilussa jewelry come with a certificate?
Moissanite stones over 0.3 carats include a certificate of gemstone quality. All orders include a matching gift box.
Ordering
How do I place an order?
Browse our collections, select your size and style, and click Add to Cart. Proceed to checkout, enter your shipping and payment details, and confirm your order. You’ll receive a confirmation email immediately after.
Can I change or cancel my order?
We process orders quickly. If you need to make a change or cancellation, email contact@ilussa.com as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee changes once an order has been processed, but we will do our best to help.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
All ilussa jewelry orders automatically include a matching gift box at no extra charge.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All transactions are processed through Shopify’s secure, PCI-compliant payment system using SSL encryption. We never store your full card details.
Shipping
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes — free standard shipping on all U.S. orders over $100. Orders under $100 are charged based on weight and destination, calculated at checkout.
How long does shipping take?
For U.S. orders: fashion and apparel arrive in 2–5 business days (standard) or 1–3 business days (expedited). Moissanite jewelry takes 5–10 business days (standard) or 3–5 business days (expedited) due to careful quality processing before shipment.
For international orders: fashion arrives in 7–14 business days (standard) or 3–7 business days (expedited). Jewelry takes 10–18 business days (standard) or 5–10 business days (expedited).
Why is jewelry shipping longer than apparel?
Each piece of moissanite jewelry goes through a quality inspection at our U.S. facility before final delivery. This ensures every piece meets our standards before it reaches you.
How do I track my order?
Once your order ships, you’ll receive a tracking number by email. You can also track your order anytime at ilussa.com/pages/track-your-order.
My tracking hasn’t updated. What should I do?
Tracking updates can sometimes lag by 24–48 hours, especially for international shipments. If your tracking hasn’t moved in more than 5 business days, email us at contact@ilussa.com and we’ll investigate.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship to most countries worldwide. International shipping rates and estimated delivery times are calculated at checkout. Please note that customs duties and import taxes are the responsibility of the customer.
Returns & Refunds
What is your return policy?
We accept returns on eligible items within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused and in original condition with tags and packaging intact. See our full Return & Refund Policy for details.
How do I start a return?
Email contact@ilussa.com with your order number and the item(s) you’d like to return. We’ll send return instructions and a prepaid label within 1–2 business days.
How long do refunds take?
Once we receive your return, allow 5–7 business days for processing. Refunds are issued to your original payment method and you’ll receive a confirmation email when complete.
My item arrived damaged. What do I do?
Email contact@ilussa.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo or video of the damage. We’ll arrange a free return and send a replacement or issue a full refund at no cost to you.
Can I return jewelry?
Yes — all items including jewelry are eligible for return within 30 days, provided they are unworn and in original condition with packaging intact.
Jewelry Care
How do I care for my moissanite jewelry?
Moissanite is extremely durable but benefits from basic care. Clean with a soft cloth or mild soap and warm water. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals, chlorine, or ultrasonic cleaners. Store in the included gift box when not wearing to prevent scratching.
Is ilussa jewelry waterproof?
Our jewelry is water-resistant but not designed for prolonged submersion. We recommend removing pieces before swimming, bathing, or heavy exercise to preserve the finish and plating over time.
